Minerals Processing

Having completed a range of successful trials with waste water from industrial and mining sources, MBD will continue to investigate projects that require low cost remediation of water in Australia and Asia. The algae bioremediation has the potential for low cost treatment of large quantities of contaminated waste water and result in the production of significant quantities of algal biomass.

Mining and industry produce large volumes of contaminated wastewater (often loaded with ammonia and heavy metals). Historically the wastewater have been held in onsite storage facilities. These large reserves and ongoing generation of waste water are the subject of increasingly tighter government regulation. This provides MBD Energy with a significant opportunity.

Advantages to the project partners of MBD's algal bioremediation include potential cost efficiency savings through pre-treatment of waste water, release of water to the environment within licence limits and production of commercially valuable biomass.

A significant program to assess the opportunity is well advanced and the company will look to establish large scale projects.
